Gotland Gin - made in Devon
Nestled in the rolling countryside of West Devon you will find the inspiration behind Gotland gin. After completing full careers in the British Army, Dawn and Mark decided to relocate to Devon. Both lovers of animals, so decided to set up their own smallholding amongst the rolling hills of West Devon. Gotland sheep were a favourite on Dawn and Mark’s smallholding from the beginning. A very tactile breed of sheep originally from Gotland, an island off the cost of Sweden, they became the inspiration for Gotland gin and remain and important part of West Devon life for them. After a busy day on the smallholding, they were both enjoy a relaxing glass of gin and tonic overlooking their flock, which gave them the idea to create their own hand-crafted premium gin.
In order to create a unique gin and maintain the link with Gotland sheep, they explored a variety of Scandinavian fruits such as the lingonberry and after much experimenting infusing a diverse range of botanicals, Gotland Gin was born.
Handcrafted in small batches using traditional and non-traditional botanicals along with one of the finest natural spring waters provided by Riddestone Dew just a few miles away from them in Devon. Gotland Gin is infused with bold juniper, soft floral notes from green cardamom, the piquant flavours of hibiscus and lingonberries, a little spice from pink peppercorns and a citrus finish from lemon peel and fresh limes gives Gotland Gin a unique, smooth and refreshing taste. The Taste of the West judges agreed and gave Gotland Gin a well deserved Gold award in 2021.
Dawn and Mark love visitors at Gotland Gin HG and welcome arranged visits or parties to sample their amazingly smooth and refreshing gin and meet their sheep that were the inspiration behind the unique drink. You can relax in their outside bar and unwind with views of rolling countryside that surround their smallholding.
